Description

The Marantz SACD 10 is an uncompromising, ultra-high-end physical media transport and standalone DAC built by hand at the Shirakawa Audio Works in Japan. Weighing an immense 33 kg (73 lbs), it is structurally engineered inside a massive, copper-plated triple-layer aluminum chassis. This design completely separates and mechanically isolates independent sub-enclosures to block cross-circuit electrical noise. It is engineered purely for audiophiles who demand master-tape levels of resolution from physical silver discs and high-resolution digital audio architectures.

Key Features

  • Bespoke SACDM-3 Transport: Utilizes a fully proprietary, premium metal disc loader designed for “maximum rejection of resonance” and ultra-precise datastream extraction.
  • Marantz Musical Mastering (MMM-Stream & Conversion): Completely bypasses off-the-shelf DAC chips. The dual-SHARC DSP platform upsamples all incoming PCM and SACD data to an ultra-high rate “DSD256 stream before a passive low-pass filter produces the final analogue output.”
  • Dual Toroidal Power Supplies: Integrates two entirely discrete power transformers. One transformer is dedicated exclusively to the mechanical disc drive and digital clocks, while the other feeds the delicate analog line stages.
  • Next-Gen HDAM-SA3 Analog Stages: The analog outputs and the built-in headphone amplifier “use the latest SA-3 generation of Marantz’s HDAM modules, discrete circuitry built without op-amps.”
  • Asynchronous USB-B DAC Mode: Operates as an elite high-resolution reference DAC for computers, supporting native bitrates up to PCM 384kHz/32-bit and DSD256 (11.2MHz).
  • Fully Balanced Architecture: Features end-to-end symmetrical dual-mono circuit topology feeding gold-plated fixed XLR balanced terminal rails.

Applications

  • Flagship Analog Audio Foundations: Serves as the ultimate reference-standard digital source piece linked to ultra-high-end pre/power separate arrays or flagship reference integrated amplifiers.
  • Mastering Studio Desktop Transport: Functions as a master-tier hardware audio converter directly linked to professional computer work networks via asynchronous USB-B.
  • Uncompromised Headphone Architecture: Drives demanding, heavy-load audiophile planar magnetic monitors via its fully discrete, dedicated high-current variable-gain phone circuit. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
